STATE AS A CONCEPTUAL AND LINGUISTIC CATEGORY
The article characterizes the category of state as a multilevel phenomenon which is analysed
in the humanities paradigm of knowledge. The article also suggests a definition of
“state” as a grammatical category corresponding to a nominal part of speech of the Russian
language – words belonging to the category of state.

The present article considers the precedent theory and precedent phenomena in general. It
also analyzes some approaches to the problems of their interpretation and classification. A
Special importance is given to precedent names which can be viewed as metaphors from the
