The work is devoted to the history of institutionalization of religious nonconformist’s communities in Russia of
second half of XVIII – beginning of XIX cent. Basing on materials of Central Black-Soil region of Russia, the authors
demonstrate that this period was marked by going out of latent condition considerable part of Old Belief. The key reason
of this process became liberalization of confessional policy of the state which partially recognized the right of
believers to freedom of worship.
