Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation

Rossotrudnichestvo is the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation. It was established in September 2008 in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 1315 of September 6, 2008.

"The activities of Rossotrudnichestvo and its foreign institutions are aimed at implementing the state policy of international humanitarian cooperation, promoting the dissemination abroad of an objective view of modern Russia," the official website of the department reports.

The key areas of the Agency's activities are:

Public diplomacy.
Support of compatriots abroad. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, other ministries and departments, administrations of Russian regions, Rossotrudnichestvo participates in the implementation of the state program to facilitate the voluntary resettlement of compatriots to the Russian Federation.
Education and science. Representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo promote the recruitment of foreign students to Russian universities. Much attention is also paid to working with graduates of Russian (Soviet) universities, of which there are more than 500 thousand worldwide.
Strengthening the position of the Russian language. Thousands of people are studying Russian language courses at Rossotrudnichestvo representative offices in many countries of the world today. There are examination tests, according to the results of which you can get a state certificate confirming the level of proficiency in the Russian language.
Work with young people. The Agency is the state customer-coordinator of the Program of short-term study trips to the Russian Federation of young representatives of political, public, scientific and business circles of foreign countries "New Generation".
